What to Expect on Your First Visit

Going to a new dentist for the first time can feel a bit unnerving. At DeLand Smiles we want you to feel welcomed and comfortable, which is why we’re letting you know about everything your first visit will include before you even arrive.

What to Bring With You

All new patients should bring a current list of any medications that they are taking, as well as their driver’s license and insurance card.

If you would like to complete your new patient paperwork before you arrive, we can email it to you after you have scheduled an appointment with us.

If there is anyone who helps make financial decisions regarding your treatment, such as a spouse, parent, or guardian, that person should accompany you as well.

The New Patient Experience

Once you’ve arrived and filled out any necessary forms, one of our team members will review your medical history with you and give you a tour of our state-of-the-art dental facility. You’ll then be seated in one of our memory-foam, heated, massage chairs as we:

  • Perform a blood pressure screening
  • Take digital photos of your smile

Dr. Mahindra will then perform her new patient exam and interview, while also screening for periodontal disease, oral cancer, and TMJ disorders. During this visit, we will capture any necessary digital x-rays and discuss any of your oral health concerns and whether or not any treatment is recommended. We ask that you reserve approximately 90 minutes for this comprehensive new patient visit.
